Joint Christian Education Class This Sunday & Next:
This Sunday & next Sunday all the adults are meeting in one Sunday School class together. Pastor Lee will be teaching. We’ll be discussing one very, very important part of what it means to be the church (and not just “go” to church). Some of you have asked me what “vision” I have for our church. This is an initial stab at answering that question. More will follow, but this will be a crucial part of that developing conversation. I hope you’ll all try to attend!
Breakfast foods of great consequence are served at 9:30 am
Christian Education class starts at 10:00 am
TONIGHT!
5:30 - Baked Chicken Breast, Hashbrown Casserole, etc.
6:15 - “Give Us A King!”… Tonight we move past all of our introductory matters & start really diving into the story. But 1st Samuel is not merely a story. It’s also theology. Not textbook definitions of theology, but theology revealed in a more “dynamic” form… revealed in human lives. We have much to discover about man & much to discover about God as we read & ponder this amazing book.
4 & 5 Year Olds are Still Awesome:
I believe I commented once before in this space about how awesome 4 & 5 year olds are. Well… they’re still awesome. My favorite 5-year-old was just explaining to me this morning how Jesus could even beat up Superman if the two of them ever got in a fight. Our 4 & 5 year olds at DPC are in need of another adult or two (as helpers, assisting the other couple already there) to help lead their Wednesday Night class. If you might be interested (and if you are wise, you will be), please let me or Greg Smith know.

Women’s Conference with Nancy Guthrie:
Nancy is the author of “Hoping for Something Better”…”Do you ever wrestle with a nagging sense of disappointment… that life isn’t what you thought it would be? that you aren’t who you wanted to be? that faith seems more complicated than it should be? Do you find yourself longing for… something better?”
The conference starts this Friday night (6:30 late registration & 7:00 first session) and ends on Saturday after a 12:00 pm time of questions & answers with Nancy. Invite a friend!
Thought of the Week:
“No man ever sank under the burden of the day. It is when tomorrow’s burden is added to the burden of today, that the weight is more than a man can bear.”
~ George MacDonald
“Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”
~ The Lord Jesus (Matthew 6.34 – Jesus is there summarizing all of his teaching from Matthew 6.25-33)
“The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.”
~ The Apostle Paul (Philippians 4.6)
