DPC Midweek Update, 01.20.10

TONIGHT!
5:30 - Spaghetti!
6:15 - “Give Us A King!”… Our adult Bible study in 1st Samuel continues.  This book is not just a source of information on Israel’s colorful history… it’s also a divinely revealed commentary on human life.  As we study it carefully we’re going to uncover a wealth of wisdom that we may tap into as we go about the business of human living.

Little Known Facts:

  • Jan Fincher has an alias!  Her birth mother named her Susan Rose.  Her adoptive parents changed her name a week later.
  • When Debbie Bell was a teenager, her mom would iron her hair to straighten it, using a clothes iron.  (This was before the day of straightening irons for hair.)
  • When Debbie Smith was a child, her favorite dinner to order at the Officer’s Club was snails on garlic toast!
  • When Steve and Adriane Coward were dating, a typical date would be a day at Disney World.

Take a Moment to Pray For:
  • Families who have experienced recent deaths… most recently Eric & Athena Haynes; Tim & Pamela Bolding
  • Worship Leader Search Committee… potentially making much progress this week.  Pray for discernment.
  • Cayden (Pam Riley’s grandson)… continued low blood count problems
  • Kim Ingram… flying out today for surgery on the 25th

Take Note:
  • Deposit & registration for RYM (youth conference) need to be given to Steve Coward right away.  This Sunday (2.24) is the last day they can be accepted.
  • January 29, 30:  Women’s Conference with Nancy Guthrie.  Register now!  See Jan Fincher (if that really is her name) for details.
  • February 14, 20-21:  DPC Missions Conference.  Stay tuned for more information.
